Creating meaningful experiences rooted in the Jewish story.
Whether bringing people together for a life-cycle event, exploring Jewish texts and traditions through a modern lens, or writing books for children and teens, my goal is to help people find themselves in our sacred stories.

Midrash is the art of bringing our own voices to the text, reimagining sacred stories to reflect the questions and challenges of our time. It is one of the oldest – and also the newest – Jewish acts.
This Community of Practice will meet monthly to explore and create midrash. We’ll read stories from the Bible through the lens of creative interpretation, and ask how the sacred story can hold up a mirror for us to see ourselves, or offer a window into someone else’s experience. Each session will include a writing prompt and time to create and share our own original midrash.

We want to send you a humongous THANK YOU for leading a beautiful, meaningful, unforgettable ceremony. Thank you for guiding us in the steps of the ketubah signing and ceremony, getting to know us so well, making such meaningful remarks about our relationship and families, and incorporating everything we requested so beautifully. Our friends and family found the ketubah signing intimate and meaningful, and we loved having that moment before the ceremony. Your singing during the ceremony was so amazing and lovely, and we really felt the joy and blessings. The readings you provided and process and guidance were invaluable, and allowed us to have a deeply spiritual ceremony that was meaningful to both of us and our families. Thank you again- it was such a great experience working with you!"

Just had an extraordinary weekend with Rabbi Leah Berkowitz as our scholar-in-residence. She shared her passion for midrash with learners of all ages, with sessions for adults Friday night, Shabbat morning, and at Havdalah, and with kids this morning. The adults kept coming back, and we sold out of her books...And our folks had a great time getting to know her informally. I highly recommend her as a scholar-in-residence!"

Rabbi Berkowitz has an easy and natural way with children, and her connection with them was palpable. I think the third through sixth graders would have happily stayed in the sanctuary asking questions and engaging with her all day if we had let them. I love how inspiring she was regarding writing, and that she left them all with so much to think about. Thank you for giving so much of yourself and for providing such an enriching program for our kids."
